BACKGROUND: This was my first effort to present technical papers for the Space Exploration and Science conference group, who were more interested in tether space elevators than ASCE had become by this time. So I submitted three paper abstracts, hoping one of them would be of interest to them. They accepted all three papers, however; so I ended up having to prepare three camera ready papers, three powerpoints for the presentations, and do three presentations in 2005, in Albuquerque, NM.
